It was a quiet weekend, but the Forkast 500 NFT index continues its slide downwards, dropping 0.77%. It is hovering at the lows for the month of April. Floor prices of major collections, like Moonbirds, Doodles, Bored Apes continue bleeding out. So what's going on here? Is this capitulation? Or just NFTs returning to their "true" intrinsic value.

We tend to think it's the former.

Marvel Studios Founder Unveils Ekos Genesis

💲 What to know: Ekos Genesis is a 1/1 digital NFT art project by David Maisel, the founding chairman of Marvel Studios, together with artists Michael Turner and Peter Steigerwald

☘️ In the weeds: David Maisel is a legend. He turned the superhero movie world upside down by kicking off the Marvel Cinematic Universe—a series of interconnected films that we all love. Thanks to Maisel, Marvel Studios has become an entertainment giant, grabbing the attention of people around the globe with its legendary characters and captivating stories. David is as OG as it gets.

This collection has 995 carefully designed 1/1 character art pieces, all sporting a comic-book style heavily influenced by Michael Turner, who sadly passed away in 2008. You'll find a mix of truly unique artwork and others that are part of small series with different colors and textures.

The sale will be conducted in two phases: a pre-auction period and a dutch auction. The Dutch Auction is straightforward, beginning at 10 ETH and falling to a minimum price of 0.25 ETH. It begins on 2 May at 10am PT

The sale has two parts: a pre-auction period and a Dutch auction. The Dutch Auction is easy to follow—it starts at 10 ETH and drops to a minimum of 0.2 ETH.

In the pre-auction period, collectors can put down a 10 ETH deposit starting from April 24 at 10am PT (just about 8 hours from now). Each 10 ETH deposit secures one Ekos Genesis Art piece on a first-come, first-served basis. The top six collectors during the pre-auction period will get an exclusive 1/1 piece.

🤑 Why it matters: Having a cultural icon like Maisel enter the Web 3 space is a massive boost for the industry. There's been a lot of media attention on this, so hopefully that translates into greater mainstream awareness of what's happening in NFTs and art.

We'll be closely watching the pre-auction period as a sign of collector interest/demand.
