GM. Happy friday to everyone still holding on tightly to your JPEGs! We share all of our research findings in 3 simple emails each week.

Today we cover:

  • Bored Apes and CryptoPunks sink to lows for the year. Why?

  • Moonbirds launches a token

  • Big drop off in NFT traders. We tell you how many are left

  • Berachain raises $42M in funding. Just wow.

Market Update

The Forkast 500 NFT index is down 1.6% on the day, the biggest drop in the past week. Much of this is related to an overall pullback in the crypto markets, with ETH falling nearly 10% from its highs of the week.

It's been a bit of a bumpy ride recently in the NFT market. The Forkast 500 NFT index has taken a 1.6% hit - the biggest drop we've seen in a week! 😮 This seems to be linked to a broader pullback in the crypto markets, as ETH has fallen nearly 10% from its weekly highs.

Our beloved major NFT collections aren't faring too well either. Bored Apes and CryptoPunk NFTs have both seen their floor prices dip below 50 ETH for the first time this year. 📉

So, what's the game plan? Some NFT enthusiasts are saying it's time to "buy the blood" and hold on tight for the next cycle. Meanwhile, others are taking a more cautious approach, waiting for momentum to build before diving in. 🤔

Moonbirds Gets A Revamp, Leans Heavily into Art

💲 What to know: Moonbirds, the 10K PFP collection helmed by Kevin Rose, is undergoing a revamp and will be launching a rewards points system — $TALON

It's been one year since its launch on April 18. Happy birthday Moonbirds!

☘️ In the weeds: You might've heard that Moonbirds and the PROOF ecosystem hit a rough patch lately. After raising a whopping $50M in Series A funding (thanks, a16z!) and dreaming of their own metaverse, they decided to change course. Now, they're embracing their artistic side as the "Art Collector's PFP."

The transformation kicks off with the Diamond exhibition, a curated show featuring 22 artists and a stunning 10,010 digital artworks. Keep an eye out for Beeple and Dirty Robot, just to name a couple of the standout artists!

For those of you who've had your Moonbirds NFTs staked since Day 1, you can claim a Day One Pass. This gives you the chance to pick your favorite artwork from the Diamond Nest collection starting April 25th. But hurry, these passes are selling for 0.24 ETH each on Opensea, with 4,720 already claimed.

As for the $TALON rewards system, Moonbirds NFT holders will start earning points automatically every day. Use your $TALON to bid on exclusive NFT drops, snag cool merchandise, attend IRL events, and enjoy other one-of-a-kind experiences in the PROOF ecosystem.

🤑 Why it matters: We like how Moonbirds is leaning into its strengths, preferring to focus on art instead of being a mainstream brand/IP play. Kevin Rose and the PROOF team are extremely well-connected within the NFT art space, and we anticipate many more exciting collaborations ahead. Moonbirds holders get the front seat to all of the action.
